GRU CEC Student Chapter Officer Minutes
Date: June 14, 2013
Time: 3:15p.m.-5:30p.m.
New Officer:
· Karen Jones (vice president)---Took Teresa Raley’s position
Constitution:
· Name: Georgia Regents University Students
· Submit: To Student Activities and state CEC
· Chapter number: 0189
· Member change: To be a member of GRU CEC, must be a member of national membership.
· * A must: New members must become a National Member $71 (3 payments)
A. Members need to: organize and push it
· * Dr. Hogan send out e-mail to current members about changes*
· * We need to decide on membership fee for GRU CEC members (price?)
A. Example: Cover a cost of a textbook so don’t need textbook for class workout with professors
B. (Dr. Hogan talks in August to Dr. Hathcote and Dr. Kuo about fees about textbook fee to pay for National CEC membership.)
· Consequences will be made if not paid
A. Jan 1st, 2014 collect a fee of $15 for GRU CEC members
CEC requirements for Educational Membership:
· Must have 10 paid members
· Secretary can get National Membership from National CEC
· * Who is going to handle this? ---Dr. Hogan has the contact information
· Membership term (good for one whole year)
· Membership Drive join as a student, 3 years after college still get student membership benefits
· To be a student cannot be working fulltime—if already a teacher
· * Dr. Hogan will check what fulltime positions mean as a paraprofessional, officers, or fulltime employed outside of the school system
Elections:
· President: Niki or Karen--- works on Ballot (email for nominations)
· Elections are January 1st to December 31st
· Elections will occur in October 2013
· New Members will be in training for 6 weeks from November 2013 through December 2013

· Electronic vote, members must have to vote (Send out in October)

· *Dr. Hogan check on Section 5 in the document of CONSTUTION AND BYLAWS
· If president does not do a task vise president takes over
Duties of officers:
· Every officer gives what we did as a report, related to current duties of CEC at each meeting

· Niki Werden will contact Rebecca McMullen at [email protected] for Bylaw information
· Vice President

A. CEC will look into purchasing a recorder pen for future meetings
a. Upload onto computer into Google Doc
B. Have a copy of: Constitution and Bylaws In Binder
C. * Shaniel Haney make sure have Bylaws is binder and minutes
· Everyone needs to have to latest events, activities, and duties they are doing in their binders
· Treasure
A. Money/funds
B. Post on Google Doc for the budget
Section 8- Removing an Officer:
· 5 members must agree
Chapter Advisor:
· 3 year term is still in process of being revised
Budget:
· We discussed possible donations of a goal of $300-$500 saved up for every year
Committees / Officers Work on Projects:

A. Can appoint one and just be a member
a) Officers duty to find at least 2-3 other member to serve on their committee

· Make activities (One Saturday a month to help teachers)

· Officers: All get a teacher to adopt so more than one teacher has a chance
